1967:    OPERATION BOLO. F-4 Phantom pilots from the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing shoot down seven North Vietnamese MiG-21s in a sweep mission over the Red River valley to set a one-day aerial victory record. This MiG suppression operation is considered the most dramatic use of tactical deception in the War. Colonel Robin Olds, 8th TFW Commander, shoots down a MiG to become the only USAF ace with aerial victories in both World War II and the Vietnam War.
