1965: Operation BLUE LIGHT, the transport of the Army’s 3D Infantry Division from Hickam AFB, Hawaii, to Pleiku, South Vietnam begins. More than 4,600 tons of equipment and 3,000 troops are transported making it the largest such combat operation in history until that time.
