1968: The Commander, United States Forces, asks for more troops to counter the Tet Offensive, Military Airlift Command (MAC) airlifts 10,500 troops and equipment of the 82d Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N. C., and a regimental landing team of the 5th Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, Ca., to Vietnam. The airlift continues through 17 February.
