1967: Robin Olds, Jr., shoots down an enemy MiG in Southeast Asia. This victory makes Olds the only American ace to ever shoot down enemy aircraft in nonconsecutive wars. Olds is the son of famed aviator Maj. Gen. Robert Olds who led six B-17s on a long-distance flight to South America and also intercepted the ocean liner Rex more than 700 miles out at sea in 1938.
