2003: DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSSES. USAF award 34 aircrew members from Charleston AFB the DFC for actions in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Eight recipients receive the DFC during the first night of humanitarian relief operations in Afghanistan (7 October 2001), while the others receive the DFC for inserting Marine forces at the Rhino Landing Zone near Kandahar on 28-30 November 2001.
