1965: Through 7 June, Edward H. White II and James A. McDivitt completed a 97-hour, 58-minute space flight with two firsts: White made a 23-minute spacewalk (the first), and Houston’s Manned Spaceflight Center controlled its first mission. This mission also set a space endurance record (62 orbits).
