1979: In an incident that would inspire the 1980 movie Wargames, for three minutes test data of a missile attack was inadvertently transmitted to the operational side of the Cheyenne Mountain Complex Operations Center computer system. Eight minutes elapsed between the time the test data appeared and NORAD assessed confidence that no strategic attack was underway.
